2024 Illva’s future begins, dedicated to sustainability and the empowerment of young talent.
This adventure began with students at the 24ORE Business School Master MBA, who had the chance to explore the heart of Illva Saronno Holding.
From the evocative visit to the Santuario in Saronno, a symbol of traditions and deep roots, to the exploration of the manufacturing plants, at the centre of corporate innovation. After this remarkable experience, the participants were launched into the future by a briefing on the sustainability project, on which they will be working over the next few months. Every instant of this day demonstrated the students’ enthusiasm, commitment and talent.
From the visit to the evocative Santuario in Saronno, where the deep roots of tradition meet our contemporary age, to the exploration of the manufacturing plants, centres of innovation and technology: every moment was a unique experience.
The day gave them many themes on which to reflect, and this became even more intense during the briefing for the project linked to sustainability, the central theme of Illva’s Future 2024 project. Now the students are ready to tackle this challenge with determination; they are ready to make their own contribution.
After an intense afternoon full of innovative ideas, we are excited to share the results of our collaboration with the 24ORE Business School MBA Master
The students presented their projects focusing on sustainability, demonstrating a deep understanding of our values and goals. Each proposal was inspiring, confirming the potential of the young, talented participants.
We would like to thank Domenico Gulli, CEO of It Will and principal lecturer for the Master, the 24ORE Business School team (Elisabetta Panerai and Silvia Lo Cascio, Coordinators of the Master; Elisa Lugoboni, Offer & Content Manager; Pamela Valerio, Social Media Manager) and all those who enriched the day with their valuable words and support.
With determination and cooperation, they rose to the challenge and suggested many innovative solutions for a greener world. Not only did their ideas demonstrate their notable sensitivity to environmental issues, they also constitute practical solutions to contemporary challenges.
At a time when sustainability is crucial, they showed that vision and action can change the world.
Today we had the pleasure of hosting students from the Università degli Studi di Milano’s Food Science and Technology course at our headquarters, with a special focus on the Illva Saronno Flavours Division and our Innovation Center.
During the visit, we illustrated the processes that we have optimised over the years to attain and guarantee high standards of quality, starting from the selection of raw materials used for our products. We hope that this marks the start of a collaboration with the Università degli Studi di Milano (University of Milan) to identify new opportunities for waste utilisation, more specifically as regards the use of the secondary products generated by our extraction processes.
We are happy to have the possibility of working with young and talented individuals in order to build a more sustainable and innovative future.

What happened during the day at our factory for students from Università degli Studi di Milano‘s Food Science and Technology course?
We received the first impressions of the young talents who, as part of the Illva’s Future project, had the chance to interact with some of the managers at Illva Saronno Holding, made possible by a visit to the ILLVA Saronno Flavours Division and the Innovation Center.
Their descriptions highlighted many interesting aspects. The students’ curiosity and commitment emerged during the entire event, and it was a great pleasure for us to see that they did not fail to notice the great attention dedicated to raw materials and sustainability innovation, which are key factors for Illva Saronno Holding.
What do the young talents from Università degli Studi di Milano think about the theme of sustainability?
The students at the faculty of Food Science and Technology all shared the idea that investments into sustainability are not only a responsible decision, but also a fundamental factor in constructing a future hallmarked by increasing levels of sustainability.
We were impressed by their contribution and by the enthusiasm that they showed with respect to this theme. We believe that we share a fundamental outlook with them on this topic: corporate sustainability is essential today, both to meet increasing consumer needs, and to safeguard our ecosystem.
How was this visit integrated into the academic programme of students at the Food Science and Technology course?
This experience made it possible for the young talents at Università degli Studi di Milano to come into contact with a structured corporate reality and to directly observe the entire range of industrial processes, along with the innovations comprised therein.
We are happy that we met their expectations and that they found the experience interesting and motivating, and we hope that we can start working with some of them soon.
How can the collaboration between a company and a university generate added value for both parties involved?
We are happy to be able to share the views on the Illva’s Future project by means of contributions from Angela Bassoli, professor of Organic Chemistry at the Faculty of Food Science and Technology at Università degli Studi di Milano, and Daniela Oldrati, Director of R&D and Quality at Illva Saronno Holding.
This collaboration notably enhanced the academic training for the students involved, promoting the quest for sustainable solutions and reinforcing the links between education and corporate innovation.
The University is investing intensely into research projects on the theme of sustainability, in perfect harmony with our corporate operations.
We are proud to be constantly looking towards the future, convinced that this cooperation will continue developing, becoming a consolidated reality.
